Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) is a tax imposed on vehicles in Turkey, including cars, motorcycles, and other types of vehicles. The amount of tax paid is based on the engine displacement, age of the vehicle, and other factors such as emissions and fuel type.
The tax rate for motor vehicles in Turkey varies depending on the type and age of the vehicle, as well as the engine displacement. For example, the tax rate for gasoline vehicles with an engine displacement of up to 1,600 cc is currently 40%, while the tax rate for diesel vehicles with the same engine size is 55%. For vehicles with an engine displacement of more than 2,000 cc, the tax rate is currently 130% for gasoline vehicles and 150% for diesel vehicles.
The motor vehicle tax is paid annually, and the amount is calculated by taking into account the factors mentioned above. The tax is payable in two installments, with the first installment due in January and the second installment due in July.
