1 million 485 thousand 622 houses were sold in Turkey in 2022
Housing sales decreased by 0.4% in 2022 compared to the previous year and amounted to 1 million 485 thousand 622. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 259 thousand 654 houses and 17.5%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 126 thousand 166 house sales and 8.5% share, and ÿzmir with 83 thousand 502 sales and 5.6% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 468 houses, Hakkari with 910 houses and Bayburt with 956 houses, respectively.
207 thousand 963 houses were sold in Turkey in December
Housing sales across Turkey decreased by 8.2% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 207 thousand 963. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 36,744 house sales and 17.7%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 16 thousand 365 house sales and 7.9% share, and Antalya with 11 thousand 168 house sales and 5.4% share. The province with the lowest house sales was Ardahan with 58 houses.
Mortgaged house sales amounted to 21 thousand 796

Number of first-hand housing sales in Turkey increased by 1.5% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 77 thousand 889. First hand house sales decreased by 0.3% in 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 460 thousand 79. The share of first hand sales in total housing sales was 37.5% in December and 31.0% in 2022.
130 thousand 74 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales
Second hand house sales in Turkey decreased by 13.1% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 130 thousand
74. Second hand house sales decreased by 0.5% in 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 1million 25 thousand 543.
The share of second-hand sales in total house sales was 62.5% in December and 69.0% in 2022.
67 thousand 490 houses were sold to foreigners in 2022
Housing sales to foreigners increased by 15.2% in 2022 compared to the previous year and reached 67 thousand 490. In 2022, the share of
house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.5%. In 2022, Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 24,953 house
sales. Antalya is followed by Istanbul with 21,860 house sales, and Mersin with 4,316 house sales, respectively followed.

Iranian citizens followed the Russian Federation with 8thousand 223 residences and Iraqi citizens with 6thousand 241 residences. In December, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 2 thousand 403 houses from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 675 residences and Iraqi citizens with 345 residences, respectively.
